Tzu Chi recycling centre volunteering

I went to Tzu Chi recycling centre at Jalan Meru
And my view about doing recycling job has changed
Or maybe even my lifestyle too

It's not very big but it isn't small
It has what it's needed:
A small kitchen, a medium dining hall, some few medium store rooms, a long multi purpose hall, a big well-arranged shop
Instead of saying rooms, it's actually being separated by some wood plank while the hall and shop are at second floor
The whole area including the factory aliked building were built and donated to Tzu Chi by a really generous rich man

Clothes, papers, boxes and electrical appliances are usually either less being thrown, easy to be arranged and organized, or both
So they are already well organized in their rooms.
The main problem is the plastics, mainly bottles
We need to separate the bottles according to their ranking and make them naked without any stickers or labelling plastics
And there are abundant of them as plastic bottles are basically everyday items
Aluminium cans are next to the plastics
Though it's much easier to organize and they have less variations
We spent almost all of our volunteering hours on doing the plastics and they didn't even halved in number

It would be quite weird for a recycling centre to have a shop
But they do have
Due to their role as one of the most busy biggest recycling centre in the area, they received a lot of items that can still be used
So they sell it all in RM5 (recycling centre version of Daiso)
Clothes (some are not even being worn by seeing the tags are still on the shirt) including branded clothes, e.g. h&m and Dior
Toys and room decoratives are quite some number in the shop too
There are books and comics too
All kind of books from novel to reference books (mostly PMR and SPM)
Jing Xuan found a whole full box of colourful little cylinder that she says it's sell in Ikea for around RM25-RM30
We bought it for RM5
Next time, we can go shopping in the recycling centre again

To those who are sending aka throwing recyclable items, please arrange the bottles according to their ranking and at least rinse the bottles or cans

Save the earth, start recycling
